About

>Glomad
Office of Architecture

>Glomad is an independent architecture studio originally founded in Barcelona by Kyung Mo Yang and Gabriel Aranda. The studio was established after following their studies at the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) in 2007—an international centre for education, research and innovation focused on imagining and prototyping the future from Barcelona.

Since 2006, Gabriel Aranda has led the studio’s presence in Europe, now working from Rotterdam, while Kyung Mo Yang is based in Seoul. Operating independently from two locations, the studio continues to function as a unified practice.

Today,  >Glomad works across Europe and Asia, maintaining a consistent and cohesive approach despite the geographical distance. The studio develops experimental, multidisciplinary projects across architecture, urbanism, sustainability, research, and landscape design, with a focus on exploring new ways of living.

Architect and Founder of  >Glomad, Office of Architecture  in The Netherlands  | MArch | MSc

I am an architect working across architecture, urban design and masterplanning in Europe and Latin America. The goals in our practice combines design and research-led approaches to the built environment, addressing contemporary urban challenges through a critical and context-sensitive lens.

My work focuses on sustainable construction, environmental performance and the creation of healthier cities. I am particularly interested in the relationship between architecture, urban form and air quality, and in how design can contribute to more resilient and liveable environments.

I hold an MSc in Metropolitan Analysis, Design and Engineering from Delft University of Technology and Wageningen University & Research. My research examined the impact of high-rise construction on air pollution, as well as the potential of bio-based building systems within dense urban contexts.

Having grown up between Mexican and Spanish cultures, I have lived and worked in cities such as Barcelona, Istanbul and Timișoara, and I am currently based in Rotterdam. This international experience informs my approach, where diverse cultural perspectives and technical knowledge come together to shape thoughtful, context-driven design.
